But the truth is that often what’s going to help the most is to get better at not being funny.  \nIn this workshop we’ll almost exclusively look at the ‘not being funny’ part of the scene. In fact\, if you make me laugh in this workshop\, then you’re doing it wrong and I’ll get mad*! You’re already great at getting laughs\, so now you’ll learn not to try too hard to get the funnies out\, to invest in what’s really going on in the scene\, and to trust that you’ll get back to the comedy when the time’s right.

DESCRIPTION:Voice of reason is often misrepresented as the ‘boring’ part of the scene. Oh\, It’s a vital role that allows us to frame and play game whilst keeping the baseline reality in check? Eurgh\, fine! I’ll do it but I’m not happy about it. “I don’t want to have to eat my vegetables” etc.\nIn this workshop we’ll dig into the VoR and look at how much fun you can have in this role. We’ll practise how to play grounded without being ‘boring’\, how to say no whilst being a part of the fun\, and ask ourselves whether the VoR is even a ‘role’ at all.  \nOpen to intermediate to advanced improvisers.
