As much as we want to wait patiently for inspiration to start the scene, sometimes we just have to step out and get going, especially near the end of the show. Develop some habits and philosophies for keeping the momentum going even when your comedic brain is out of gas.

Erik Tanouye

Erik Tanouye performed and taught improv and sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade for nearly two decades. He also ran the UCB Training Center in New York for over ten years, until it closed in 2020.

Currently, he works at The New School in Greenwich Village, NYC. He still performs regularly and writes about improv.
